National Vice-President (Higher Education), Usman Ali, claims that post-gradate fees will “no doubt” suffer from a “knock-on effect” as the result of the increased cap on undergraduate tuition fees.
Ali pointed to existing campaigns, emphasising the need to equip Students’ Unions with the knowledge and skill-set to “go against the institutions.” There are also plans for future campaigns for postgraduate students. “No doubt this will be a huge campagin moving forward,” he said.
With post-graduates relying on self-funding and, in many cases, support from families, there needs to be a fairer loan system. “This will be the biggest challenge for postgraduates moving forward,” Ali said.
